2 cup butter or shortening
2 cup brown sugar
Cream sugar and shortening together

Mix together
1 cup molasses
3/4 cup boiling water
2 teaspoon baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Combine ingredients adding enough flour (6-61/2 cups of flour) to make a soft dough
add a pinch of salt

Roll and cut using a round cutter (glass or large empty pumpkin can) for desired size
Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes
Cool and spread jam of choice (raspberry, my mom liked grape jelly etc) between two cookies
Store in a sealed container to soften

Note: Laverne Aitchison's other favorite is "Jam Jams" Granny Yandeau brought from Craigmont, Ontario when they moved to Galahad, Alberta in 1923
