7 large cucumbers
1 cup lime
water
1 cup vinegar
1 oz. red food coloring
1 Tbsp. alum

Syrup:
2 cup vinegar
2 cup cold water
10 cup sugar
4 pkg red hot candy
8 sticks of cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Peel and core cucumbers leaving them in rings. Put into a crock and mix 1 cup lime with enough cold water to cover the pickles. Soak overnight.
In the morning, drain and soak in clear water 4 hours.
Put cucmbers in a large stock pot. Mix 1 cup vinegar, red food coloring and alum with enough water to cover the pickles. Cook for 2 hours. Drain and put back in crock.
Make the syrup with 2 cup vinegar, 2 cup cold water, 10 cup sugar, cinnamon sticks and red hot candy. Bring to a boil then pour over pickles. Soak for 24 hours.
The next 3 days, drain syrup, re-boil, then pour back over pickles. On 3rd day, pack pickles in jar and pour syrup into jar when hot. Seal jars.
