2 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt (original recipe) I use 1 teaspoon
1 cup butter
2/3 cup each of white and brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla (original recipe) I use 2 tsps. plus one tsp vanilla powder and one tsp of hazelnut extract because I happen to have it.
1 egg
1 16 oz package of chocolate chips (original recipe). I use good quality chocolate chopped up.
Nuts if desired (I use toasted pecans).

Stir dry ingredients together.
Cream butter and sugar together then add extracts and the egg .
Stir in dry ingredients and the chips and nuts.

Mom made 36 cookies and bakes for 8-10.
I make 24 and bake them 12 minutes.

The extra vanilla and the hazelnut extract really do make these taste special. So does the bit of extra salt.
