Cream or milk to moisten

Directions:
Mix butter, sugar and vanilla until well creamed and fluffy.
Add flour a little at a time until it's all incorporated and forms into a dough.
Roll the dough in long rolls (so when sliced the cookies will be about the size of a 50 cent piece).
Wrap dough in saran wrap and refrigerate about 2 hrs. until dough is stiff. Slice cookies slightly under 1/2 in. thick, place on an ungreased cookie sheet or silpat baking sheet.
Press down with a fork in a criss-cross fashion on top of cookie. (This creates grooves in the cookie for the icing to attach itself to.)
Bake @ 400º approx. 7 mins. until edges turn light brown. Cool, frost, & decorate with sprinkles.

Personal Notes:
Grandma Adams (Edie Adams) used to bake these every holiday season. She would frost the cookies with colored frosting and sprinkles. They were so delicious and would melt in your mouth. YUM!!
