4 c. flour
1 1/4 tsp.salt
1 lb. [ 4 sticks ] unsalted butter softened
6 ounces cream cheese [ not whipped ] room temp.
1 1/4 c sugar
2 tbsp. plus 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c walnut halves [ 1 1/2 c . toasted and chopped and 1 c finely chopped ]

Bake 23 min.
line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper set aside .
whisk together flour , salt , in large bowl set aside
put butter and cream cheese in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment . mix on medium until pale and fluffy , about 2 min. mix in sugar , vanilla . reduce speed to low . add flour mixture . mix until combine [ do not over mix ] mix in toasted walnuts . divide dough in 1/2 . roll into 8 1/2 in log , 2 in. diameter wrap log in paper , freeze 30 min. until firm . preheat oven to 3:50 remove 1 log from freezer . roll in 1/2 c. walnuts coat completely . cut into 1/4 in. rounds transfer to paper bake , switching position of sheets and rotate halfway through until cookies are golden brown about 18 to 20 min. repeat process with remaining dough . cool on racks
