1 c. butter (no substitutes), soften
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. salt
1 c. pecans
3/4 c. chopped red/or green candied cherries

Directions:
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs; mix well. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt; add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in pecans and candied cherries. Shape into four 8-inch rolls; wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until firm. Unwrap and cut into 1/8 to 1/4 inch slices. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake 350 º for 7-8 minutes or until lightly browned and edges are set. Yields: 13 dozen.

Note: Dough may be frozen for up to 6 months. Remove from freezer 1 1/2 hours before baking. Unwrap and cut into 1/8 to 1/4 inch slices. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake 350 degrees for 8 to 9 minutes or until lightly browned and edges are set. Cool 1-2 minutes before removing to wire racks.
