1 whole chicken
3 pounds stew beef
3 Large (29 oz) cans crushed tomatoes
3 Large (29 oz) cans veg-all (drained)
2 cans (15 oz) lima beans
2 cans (15 oz) green peas
3 cans (15 oz) white corn
5 lb bag white potatoes
3 tablespoons minced onion
dash of texas pete
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Boil the chicken until tender and done. When cool remove bones and skin and save the broth for the soup. Cook stew beef until done, remove stew beef and DISCARD beef broth. Put chicken broth into the soup pot, add couple cans of chicken broth or enough water to make 8-10 quarts. (Use a very large pot. Peel 5lbs of potatoes, cut in small pieces and add to the chicken broth. Drain all can vegetables and add to soup. Bring to a slow boil stirring constantly so it does not stick to pot. Add salt, pepper, texas pete, minced onion. Turn heat to simmer. Simmer 4-6 hours making sure the potatoes are done.
Makes 8-10 quarts

This recipe is a family recipe and the one my mom used. She always had a huge pot of homemade soup on Christmas Day. My sisters, Shirley, Frances, Laverne, and I have followed the same tradition. My children and grand-children love this soup. As it is a family recipe, I dedicate this recipe to my children Rene' Revels Smith, Tammy Revels Lawson, Bryan Revels, Tommy a. Lee Jr. and my grandchildren, Ashley English, Kristin Smith, Taylor and Walton Lee.
