Ingredients:
2 cups white sugar
¾ cup light corn syrup
red food coloring
green food coloring
1 ½ tsp. vanilla or ¼ tsp. oil flavor
Confectioners sugar

Directions:
Directions:
In heavy, 2 quart saucepan combine sugar, 1 cup water and the corn syrup. Cook, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Cook uncovered and without stirring to 300 degrees Fahrenheit on a candy thermometer, or until a few drops of syrup tested in cold water forms hard and brittle threads.
Remove from heat and add flavoring and food coloring and stir until well mixed. Pour into a well-greased pan (8 x 8x 2) just as soon as the candy is warm. Working quickly, cut into ½ inch strips with scissors and then cut the strips into 1-inch pieces.
Place candies in a single layer on a lightly greased cookie sheet. When hard and brittle, sprinkle lightly with confectioner’s sugar. Makes 1 pound—about 60 pieces.
