1 c water
1 T. Karo syrup
2 rounded Tablespoons of cocoa
2 c sugar
3/4 c butter

Directions:
Directions:
Put water in pan first. Add cocoa and sugar. Boil until cocoa is fully melted. Then put in sugar and boil until it forms a soft ball when dropped into a glass of cold water. Remove from heat and stir in butter. Keep stirring until the mixture thickens pour into greased plate and allow to harden.

We used to sit on the red tool box in the pantry to stir until the mixture cooled enough to pour. Grandma put us there so the hot pan was supported while we stirred, and so that we wouldn't be as likely to hurt ourselves or have an accidental spill. We could always make anything we wanted as long as we cleaned up afterward.
