7 oz self raising flour *
4oz marg. or butter
1 tblspn. sugar
Milk to mix

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour with baking powder and mix in sugar.
Cut up the marg./butter and rub into the flour and sugar mix until the mix is like fine breadcrumbs.
Mix to a STIFF paste with a little milk... do not make too moist
Roll out the paste once and fold it into 3.
Cover and leave in the fridge for 15 minutes then roll out to the thickness required.
Bake at 350F

* 'self raising flour' is a bit of a British thing... you can replicate it by adding 2 tspns. baking powder to each ( about) 8oz of all purpose flour

This is a slightly sweet almost cake'y pastry which Mum used to use for an apple tart. I don't really like 'pastry ', but love this.
