3 cups sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup Karo syrup
2/3 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup shredded coconut or chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Mix and sift together first 3 ingredients set aside. Beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add egg and syrup blend well; Add vanilla and coconut or nuts. mix in dry ingredients until thoroughly blended. Chill dough for 1 hour. Shape into 2 rolls wrap in waxed paper and chill 4 hours. cut in thin slices, 1/2 inch thick. Place on cookie sheet and bake at 400º for 10-12 minutes
