2 small packages of dates
3 C. water
2 Tbsp. butter
2 tsp. vanilla
31/2 C. sugar
41/2 C. flour (sifted)
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 C. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first 4 ingredients in a medium pan. Cook on medium heat until dates are mushy-cool
Put into a large mixing bowl
Add sugar to date mixture and stir well.

Add sifted flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt to the date mixture
Mix in nuts (optional)

Pour mixture into greased and floured loaf pan.

Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees
