1 tbsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
1/4 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup milk

Mix all ingredients together. Roll out on floured surface and cut into rounds. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet or 9.13 inch pan. Bake in 450º oven for 12 minutes or no longer doughie in the center.

This is one of those things that I watched my grandma Lea make then my mom, they never measured anything and as with a lot of baking items you just learn from doing how the dough feels. You don't want to work them to much and make them tough and you don't want to put to much flour in them to keep them flaky. Practice is what I was told and that is what I will tell you when making any baked item like rolls or biscuits. One thing I do remember both of them saying is that with this use cold milk, the colder the better.
