1/2 c. vegetable shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sugar
2 1/2 - 3 dozen chocolate cookies

Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl, beat shortening, peanut butter, 1/2 c. sugar, and brown sugar until creamy. Add in egg and vanilla. In another bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to shortening mixture. Blend thoroughly.

Roll dough into 1-inch balls. Coat outside of the ball by rolling in sugar. Place dough balls 2 inches apart on cookie sheets. Bake for 10 minutes at 350º. Remove cookies and place a Hershey Kiss in center pressing down until cookies cracks around edges. Return to oven and bake for 3-5 minutes longer or until light brown.
