1 cup whipping cream
1 cup half and half
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
4 t. baking powder
1 t. salt
2 t. vanilla
1 t. nutmeg
approximately 5 cups flour, sifted

oil for frying

Directions:
Directions:
Combine whipping cream, half and half, 2 beaten eggs, sugar, and vanilla.

In separate bowl, combine 5 cups flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg.

Add flour to whipping cream mixture. Add enough flour to make soft dough -- enough to handle, but not too stiff. Roll out to 1/2" thickness. Cut with doughnut cutters. Fry in deep fat until dark brown.

Grandma Irene was famous in our family and among her neighbors and church members for these delicious doughnuts. She said the secret was having a tender dough and handling them gently.
