1 cup shortening (I use 1 cube softened butter)
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp baking soda
2 TB hot water
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt (I use 1/2 tsp)
3 C flour
1/2 c chocolate chips (or however many desired)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and soda which has been dissolved in hot water, and vanilla. Blend. Add in flour (Add 2 1/2 cups first and feel it out. It’s usually around 3 cups of flour.) and salt. I mix the flour and salt with a large mixing spoon -not with the blender. Bake at 350 degrees for about 12-14ish minutes. Pull them out when they are cooked how you like them. At least golden brown on the top is good.
