1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 large egg
2 tablespoons milk
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup Crisco

1Preheat oven to 350°F.
2Sift dry ingredients, all except sugar, together.
3Cream margarine, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
4Add egg and vanilla.
5Beat in dry ingredients until smooth.
6Blend in milk.
7Drop by tablespoon about 3 inches apart onto a greased cookie sheet.
8Bake 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned.
