Directions:
1 1. Combine sugar and corn syrup in a large saucepan. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved. Cover and cook for 3 minutes.
2 2. Uncover and cook till it reaches the hard crack stage.
3 3. Add flavor and color; stir in until completely blended together. Pour onto a buttered cookie sheet. Let cool and then crack into bite sized pieces.
4 **NOTE** you can use any color or flavor that you want. David liked to use peppermint flavoring and green food coloring. I liked it best with cherry flavoring and red food coloring. Very Christmasy of us! :O)

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
My brother, David Lillie, loved rock candy. This is his recipe, written on the back of a spelling test paper when he was in grade school. He got a C on the test but the recipe is an A. David passed away just days away from his 32nd birthday on December 7, 1996. Looking at this recipe, written in his messy scrawl, brings tears to my eyes. I know he would be thrilled that I included his recipe. So enjoy his candy, and when you do, say a prayer for all AIDS patients everywhere and pray for a cure. Thank You.
