5½ cup flour
2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
¾ cup fancy molasses
½ cup blackstrap molasses

Directions:
Directions:
1. Combine flour, ginger, baking soda, salt, cloves & cinnamon in a large bowl.
2. In separate bowl cream shortening with sugar, beat in eggs & both molasses.
3. Gradually stir in flour mixture.
4. Place in large Ziplock bag & refrigerate for 2 hours or up to 1 week.
5. Roll on floured surface to ¼” thickness.
6. Cut shapes.
7. Bake at 350ºF for 9 mins. for softer cookie, longer for crispier.

Makes 4 dozen 4" gingerbread men. Or lots of snowflakes, or smaller gingerbread people, or whatever you want to use for shapes. I use a cardboard cutout for the house and trace it then cut out the dough, transfer to cookie sheet and bake.
