1 C shortening
3/4 C sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. anise extract
2 1/4 C sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
red and green food coloring
Cookie press with Christmas discs

Directions:
Directions:
With mixer at medium to high speed, cream shortening until soft. Add sugar gradually, continuing to cream until light, fluffy. Add egg, anise extract, beat well. Sift flour, salt, baking powder together; add in 3 additions; beat well after each addition. Divide into 2 portions and put red food coloring in one and green in the other. Knead to get the color throughout. Wrap each portion in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour. Fill cookie press with one portion (leave other in refrigerator until ready for it) and make into desired cookie shapes with dial set between thin and medium. Bake 7-9 minutes at 400' or until lightly golden, being careful not to over bake.
