Two cups butter (not margarine)
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 cups flour + a little bit more (1/4 cup?)

Directions:
Mix butter and sugar until blended. Add flour a little at a time until a soft ball forms. Divide dough and pat down to approximately 1/2" thickness on well floured surface. Cut into 1" squares and bake at 350º for about 20-25 minutes or until slightly browned.

Personal Notes:
This is my grandmother's (Muno's) recipe, and my favorite cookie if it's done right! If it is, they melt in your mouth. Warning - it's as much an art as a science. I had to learn how much flour to add in addition to the 4 cups. You need enough so the dough forms a ball but it shouldn't be sticky or real stiff. If it sticks to the surface when you pat it out, it needs more flour. Don't put too much or you'll make cookie rocks. The best trick I learned was to knead the dough with my hands to get a feel for the dough; it softens the butter and blends the sugar.
