Cookie Base: 3/4 C. margarine, 3/4 C. Powered Sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla, 2 tbsp. evaporated milk, 1/4 tsp. salt, 2 C. Flour.

Caramel Filling: 1/2 lb. caramels, 1/4 C. evaporated milk, 1/4 C. margarine, 1 C. powered sugar, 1 C. chopped pecans.

Chocolate Icing: 6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1/4 C evaporated milk, 2 T Margarine, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1/2 C powered sugar (more if necessary)

Cookie: cream marg. add sugar. Add vanilla, milk and salt. Add flour and mix. Roll into balls and flatten. Bake @ 325 for 12 Min.

Caramel filling: Melt caramels in milk, add marg, sugar and pecans. Place spoonful on cooled cookie.

Chocolate Icing: Melt chocolate chips in milk, add marg, sugar and vanilla. Top on caramel filling and cool.

This is one of my childhood favorites. I remember coming home from school and mom working on them. They are very time consuming but worth it. They freeze well.
