4 cups brown sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Butter a 9' x 9' baking dish. In a medium saucepan combine the brown sugar, baking powder and milk. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Then heat without stirring. It's done when a drop of mixture forms a ball in cold water. Remove from the heat and let cool slightly; add the vanilla and walnuts. Pour the mixture into the baking dish. Let harden completely. Cut into squares when cool.
