1/2 cup white raisins
1/4 cup rum, heated
1/2 large loaf French bread, cut into large cubes
3 cups milk
2/3 cup sugar
4 whole eggs
2 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Butter well 8x11x2 inch baking dish. Soak raisins in heated rum for 10-15 minutes and drain thoroughly. Butter the French bread and cut each slice into four squares. Scatter the raisins over the bottom of the dish and cover with the buttered squares of bread. Heat the milk until a film shines on top. Stir in the sugar until dissolved. Beat the eggs and yolks together well. Add the hot milk slowlyy to the eggs, beating constantly. Stir in the vanilla then pour the mixture over the bread. Place the baking dish in a roasting pan with hot water to cover two-thirds the depth of the dish. Bake for 40-50 minutes or until knife inserted from the edge comes out dry. Cool at room temperature
