3 1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 lb. orange slice candy, cut up
1 (8 oz.) pkg. pitted dates, chopped
2 cups chopped nuts
1 (3.25 oz.) can flaked coconut
1 cup margarine or butter
2 cups granulated sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup buttermilk

Glaze:
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 cup orange juice
2 Tbsp. grated orange rind, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º. Brease and flour a 10 inch tube pan. Set aside.
In bowl, combine flour with salt; remove 1/2 cup flour mixture and set aside.
In separate bowl, combine cup-up orange slices with dates, nuts, and coconut; coat mixture with 1/2 cup flour mixtues an set aside. In large bowl, cream margarine or butter with sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition; set aside. Combime baking soda with buttermilk; add buttermilk mixture to creamed mixture alternately with flour. Mix well. Fold in fruit and nut mixture. Spoon batter into prepared pan. Bake 1 1/2 - 2 hours or until a cake tester inserted in thickest part comes out clean. Most prefer to glaze the just-baked cake in the pan. After glazing, when cake has cooled ompletely, cover and let stand overnight before removing from pan. Slice to serve.

Glaze:
In bowl, combine confectioner's sugar with orange juice and grated orange rind. Spoon over wam cake.
