1 1/2 tsp. plus 1/4 c. butter, softened, divided
2 pkgs. (11 1/2 oz. each) milk chocolate chips
1/4 c. shortening
1 pkg. (14 oz.) caramels
5 tsp. water
1 c. chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Line a 9 X 13 pan with foil and grease the foil with 1 1/2 tsp. butter; set aside. In a microwave, melt the chocolate chips and shortening at 70% power for 1 minute; stir. Microwave at additional 10-20 second intervals, stirring until smooth. Spread half on the mixture into prepared pan. Refrigerate for 15 minutes or until firm. Set remaining chocolate mixture aside.
In a large microwavable bowl, heat the caramels, water and remaining butter until caramels and butter are melted; stir until smooth. Stir in pecans. Spread over chocolate layer.
Heat reserved chocolate mixture if necessary to achieve spreading consistency; spread over caramel layer. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm.
