1 cup shortening (optional, 1/2 butter)
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soda
3 cups quick oats




Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening,brown sugar and white sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix thoroughly and add sifted dry ingredients. Mix well; add quick oats.
Form into three rolls 2 inches in diameter. Wrap in waxed paper. Chill overnite. Cut into 1/4 inch slices. Place on ungreased cookie sheets and bake for 10 to 13 minutes at 375 º until edges are lightly browned.
