1 c. scalded milk
1/3 c. Crisco
¼ c. sugar
1 package yeast
¼ c. tepid (warm but not burning) water
Add 1 tsp. – 1 Tbsp. sugar
1 slightly beaten egg
3 ½ c. flour

Directions:
Directions:
Combine scalded milk with Crisco and sugar and cool in large bowl. Dissolve
yeast in tepid (warm but not burning) water. Add 1 tsp. – 1 Tbsp. sugar. Let it proof 5 minutes. Add yeast mixture and slightly beaten egg to milk mixture. Add 3½ c. flour (in two separate batches). Beat well by hand. Pat mixture in a large greased bowl.

Let rise until double (about 2 hours). Punch down, let rest 10 minutes, than roll out. Let it rise again for 1 hour. Bake rolls at 400 degrees for 6 to 12 minutes or coffee cake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Makes 2-dozen rolls or 1 dozen rolls and 1 coffee cake.
