1-1/2 cups butter, softened
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup molasses
4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
4 tsp. ground ginger
2 tsp. baking soda
1-1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 cup coarse (Sanding Sugar)

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and molasses. Combine the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well.
Shape into 2-inch balls and roll in coarse sugar. Place 2-1/2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake at 400º for 16-18 minutes or until tops are cracked. Remove to wire racks to cool.

I used a medium-sized cookie ball scoop so they are all uniform size, and parchment paper on cookie sheet, so they don't burn.
These cookies come out rather large, and as Donald Trump would say, -- "I'm talking HUGE" :-0
