5 cups flour
2 cups shortening
2 tsp. salt

1 egg
2 T. vinegar (brown or white)
1 tsp. sugar
cold water

Directions:
Directions:
Using a pastry blender, blend the flour, shortening, and salt til its crumbly. Should be the size of peas. Using a glass measuring cup put 1 egg, 2 T. vinegar and 1 tsp. sugar in it. Add cold water to the mixture until it equals 1 cup of liquid. Mix the liquid well. Add the liquid to the flour mixture. Stir together making sure not to over handle the dough. Chill for 15 minutes and roll out the dough for your pie crusts.

In junior high I had a foods teacher that said she once attended a funeral where Grandma Lines had made all the pies. She said if I would make her a pie with my Grandmother's pie crust recipe that I would get extra credit because Grandma made the best pies she had ever tasted!
