1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 c. flour
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/3 c. Mogen David grape wine (or juice)
1 c. raisins
1 ½ c. ground apples w/juice
1 c. candied fruit
1 c. chopped nuts
dash salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the butter and the sugar together in a large bowl. In another bowl, sift the dry ingredients and then mix in the raisins, candied fruit and nuts. Stir the flour mixture into the creamed mixture. Mix with your hands as it will be stiff. Add the ground apples and juices. Bake in small loaf pans lined with 2 thicknesses of waxed paper. Bake at 325º for 1 hour or until done. Cool and wrap.

I remember Mom pouring wine over the loaves while they were still warm so I don't know if the wine is included in the recipe as a "juice" and added with the apples or if the 1/3 c. is for pouring over afterward. If you think you need more liquid in the batter, then use some wine there and pour some over afterwards!!!
