2 lb 10x Powdered Sugar
2 egg whites
1 tsp vanilla
1/8 lb butter or margarine, soft
1/4 lb coconut
Canned milk (added gradually)
Pecan or walnut halves

Directions:
Directions:
Set aside 1 c of powdered sugar for later. Mix ingredients in order except for the nuts, gradually adding in the canned milk while stirring. Knead to a soft consistency that holds together. Form into balls and put pecan or walnut halves on either side, pressing gently into the candy. Refrigerate.

This candy is a Welch family favorite. At Easter, my mom would color the coconut candy mixture with pale yellows and purples; at Christmas, it would be red and green. She would also get dates, split them and fill them with the coconut mixture.
