1 1/2 c. Sugar
1 c. Shortening
2 Eggs
1 tsp. Vanilla
3 c. Flour
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Nutmeg

Directions:
Place raisins in medium saucepan; fill with water until raisins are just covered. Simmer until water is all absorbed, Set aside to cool. Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and vanilla, beating thoroughly. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and nutmeg. Ass to creamed mixture. Stir in raisins. Roll dough into 1-inch balls; roll into sugar. Place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet and flatten with bottom of a glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 400º for about 10 minutes until lightly browned.
