6 Tbsp solid shortening (Crisco)
1 egg
1 c sugar
1 c milk
2 c flour
5 tbsp cocoa
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla

For filling:
1/2 c solid shortening (Crisco)
6 Tbsp marshmallow fluff
3/4 c sugar
1 egg white

For Pies:
Place all ingredients in bowl. Blend 1/2 minute on low speed. Beat 3 minutes on high speed. Grease and flour baking pan, 13x9x2 inches or 2 9-inch layer pans.
Bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes for oblong, layers 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool.
Filling for Cool Whoppies:
Mix until stiff, approximately 3 or 4 minutes, making sure the mixture is good and creamy. Place one whoopie pie upside down, spoon on filling, place another whoopie pie on top. Continue until all ingredients are used.
