Three 9” pies

Juice Mix:
1 cup sugar
1 cup molasses (King syrup)
1 pt water
1 egg, beaten
3 T flour
1 lemon, juice and rind mixed well

Cake:

1 ½ c sugar
½ c butter
2 ½ c flour
¼ tsp salt
2 eggs
1 c sweet milk
3 ½ t baking powderThree 9” pies

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar, then add well-beaten eggs. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Then add flour and milk alternately to creamed mixture. Now divide juice equally into unbaked pie crusts. Drop cake batter by spoonful equally into juice. Bake at 400 for 15 min, then at 375 for about 30 min.
