2 c. granulated sugar; 1/4 lb. butter or margarine; 3 T. cocoa powder; 1/2 c. milk; 3 c. oatmeal (I prefer quick oats) [Note: do NOT use instant oatmeal]; 1/2 c. peanut butter (smooth or crunchy); 1 tsp. vanilla extract.

Combine sugar, butter, cocoa powder and milk in a saucepan.

Over medium heat, bring to a boil and let the mixture boil a minute or so while stirring.

Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter.

When peanut butter has melted, add vanilla and oatmeal.

Drop by rounded teaspoon onto waxed paper and let cool.

You may use Old Fashioned or Quick Oats, but do not use instant oatmeal to make these cookies. Also peanut butter is optional. I sometimes leave out the peanut butter and put in 1 c. of coconut instead. Aunt. J.
