Filling:
1 pkg. pitted dates
1 c. hot water
1/2 c. light brown sugar
Square:
1 3/4 c. oats
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. melted butter

Directions:
Directions:
For filling: Put dates, water and brown sugar in pan and cook until "messy", about 5 minutes, then let cool on low heat.

In a bowl put oats, flour, brown sugar, baking soda, and melted butter. Mix. Put 1/2 of this mix in baking pan and press down with your hands. Next, put in filling . Then cover with the rest of the mix. smooth over with a fork. cook in oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until it gets brown.
