1/3 C Crisco,1 1/2 C brown sugar, 1 T water, 1 t vanilla, 2 eggs, 1 1/2 C flour, 1/3 C cocoa, 1/2 t salt, 1/4 t baking soda, 2 C (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Heat oven to 375º. In a large bowl,beat shortening,brown sugar,water,& vanilla on medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Add eggs; beat well. Stir together flour,cocoa,salt & baking soda. Gradually add to sugar mixture, beating on low speed just until blended. Stir in chocolate chips, drop by teaspoonfuls,2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 7-9 minutes or until cookies are set. They will appear soft & moist. Cool 2 minutes. Remove to flat surface on foil. cool completely.
