Fig Mixture:
8 pounds dried figs, chopped
6 pounds dates, chopped
1/2 cup honey (if using dried figs)
1 cup whiskey (a little for you while you cook, and then add to fig mixture! )
2 tablespoons cinnamon
2 tablespoons vanilla (to taste)
Zest of 8 oranges
2 cups chopped nuts

Cake Dough:
2 cups shortening
2 cups sugar
6 eggs
3 tablespoons Vanilla
2/3 cup Whiskey
3 tablespoon lemon juice
1 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon zest
13 cups all purpose flour
4 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 cups honey

Preheat oven at 400 degrees
10-15 minutes
Combine all Fig mixture together in large bowl, set aside. Mix together Cake dough in large bowl, cover, and let set with damp cloth over it for 30-60 minutes. Cake dough can be made night before and stored in refrigerator. Take out ahead of time, and bring to room temperature before making cookies. Roll out cake dough on floured board. Kneed until elastic. Cut into strips. Add fig mixture. Use long spatula to turn dough over fig mixture. Cut into 1 1/2 inch size cookie. Shape as desired.
