1 1/2 C. (3 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
3/4 C. powdered sugar
1 tbsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. salt
3 C. flour
2 C. (12-ounce package) chocolate chips
1/2 C. chopped nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 375ºF.

Beat butter, sugar, vanilla extract and salt in large bowl until creamy. Gradually beat in flour; stir in morsels and nuts. Shape level tablespoons of dough into balls. Place on greased baking sheets.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until cookies are set and lightly browned. Remove from oven and sift powdered sugar over the tops of the hot cookies while on baking sheets. Cool on baking sheets, add more powdered sugar if desired.
