2 cups brown sugar or 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup shortening
3/4 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 tsp baking soda dissolved in 2 tbsp hot water
1 cup steamed raisins
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 cups oats
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together sugar and shortening until light and fluffy. .
Add eggs, dissolved soda, and vanilla.
Add dry ingredients mixing well. Fold in steamed raisins
Spread into a shallow baking pan and bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes.

Add nuts and chocolate chips if you wish.
