Directions: Well, I have already shared a little bit about my grandma. She was one of nine children in her family and they all certainly knew how to take care of themselves. I don’t think my grandma ever gave me an honest history of her childhood. There are many things that I would love to know about her life, that I will now never have the opportunity to find out. What I do know is that she loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a well respected woman in the community and she lent a helping hand wherever and whenever she could. She was Sunday School teacher, an Awana leader, a church cleaner and although she never sang in the choir, she was a church singer....perfectly content in the pew she was seated. There are so many wonderful memories I have with both my grandparents, including camping in their trailer as well as tenting in the back yard, fishing in Alaska, sailing on the Bay of Fundy, shopping the flea markets in Florida and not mention so many wonderful holidays gathered around the fireplace and of course the TABLE! Her heart was filled with so much love... being the only grandchild may have had something to do with it, but I would like to believe it was her deep faith in God that kept her grounded and focused in her family. To islanders she was Royis, to me she was NANNIE.... |
