1 Cup shortening (half butter and half margarine)
1 Cup Sugar
1 Unbeaten Egg
2 Cups unsifted all-purpose flour
½ tsp. cream of tartar
½ tsp. soda
Pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Directions:

Mix all ingredients and make into small balls with hand. Place on a greased cookie sheet and press with a slightly greased glass, dipped in sugar.
