1 ¼ cups butter or margarine, softened
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups all-purpose flour
¾ cup cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter or margarine and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add eggs one at a time and beat thoroughly. Add vanilla. Blend well.
Sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Blend into creamed mixture.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 8 to 9 minutes. The cookies will be puffed up during baking, and will flatten upon cooling. Let cool on pan for a minute or two then transfer to cooling rack to cool completely. Makes about 4 1/2 dozen cookies.
