2 cups light brown sugar
1 cup shortening
3 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
4 cups flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar until creamy. Add eggs, buttermilk, mixed with soda, add flour, baking powder, salt and vanilla. Chill over night. Roll out half dough on lightly floured surface. Cut into shapes. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.

Cookies are much like old fashioned sugar coolie's. If day is humid add 1/2 cup flour extra.
