1 c. butter, room temperature
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 c. canned pumpkin
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt

Penuche Glaze:
3 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. milk
1 1/2-2c. confectioners sugar

1. Preheat over to 350 degrees
2. Have ready ungreased baking sheets
3. In large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
4. Blend in pumpkin, egg and vanilla extract
5. In separate bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.
6. Stir flour mixture into butter/sugar mixture
7. Drop tablespoonfuls 3 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets
8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden around edges
9. Remove cookies and transfer to cooling racks
10. Let cool completely for at least 1/2 hour, then frost with glaze.

Glaze:
In a medium saucepan, heat butter and brown sugar over medium heat until bubbly. Heat, stirring constantly for one minute, or until slightly thickened. Beat in milk. Blend in confectioners sugar until the glaze is smooth. Spread glaze over cookies. Please note: This glaze will harden fairly quickly. It's suggested to keep saucepan over the stove on the lowest heat possible to prevent it from hardening.
