1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
Some kind of filling, Lemon curd taste best!

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla thoroughly. Blend in flour, salt and baking soda. Cover and chill for one hour. Prepare filling. Heat oven to 400º. Roll dough 1/16 inch thick on lightly floured board. Cut in 3 inch circles. Use a biscuit or cookie cutter. Spoon 1 tsp. filling on half of each circle. Fold over dough. Press edges with fork. Brush with milk, and sprinkle with sugar. Bake 8-10 minutes. Immediately remove from baking sheet to cool.
