Boil 2 cups of water with 1 cup of raisins to equal 1 cup. Cream 1 c each of sugar & shortening. Add 1 egg, 2 c of flour, 1 tsp each of salt, cinnamon, allspice and baking soda, 1/2 tsp cloves

Alternate with dry and wet. Put in a large cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes at 350º. Sprinkle with sugar or glaze. quick and easy treat, the kids loved them. If someone was coming over would throw them in the oven, easy and inexpensive treat.
