Clean potatoes very well to get all the farm dirt off them, as the best potatoes are grown in Grandma and Grandpa's garden.
Slice the potatoes in half the long way. Spread a well used cookie sheet with butter and put some butter on the sliced potato. Place cut side of potato on cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for about 45 minutes.
Take out of oven and enjoy.

Mother made these potatoes for us many times and especially when we would make the 4 hour drive from Fargo. These would be ready for us to eat when we got to the house.
They are Jack's favorite and only Mother's taste the best.
