1 c. brown sugar, 1 c. white sugar, 1 c. butter, 2 eggs, 1 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. vanilla, 5 tsp. hot water, 1 tsp. baking soda, 3 1/2 c. flour, 1/ 12 cups chopped nut meat.

Cream sugars and butter- add eggs and beat well. Dissolve soda in hot water. Coat nuts with 1/2 cup of the flour. Sift the remaining flour with the salt. Alternately add the water and flour mixture to the egg and sugar mixture. Stir in nuts. Knead the mixture with your hands (moistened with water) and form into rolls about 8 inches long and 2 inches in diameter. Roll logs in wax paper and refrigerate over night. Slice VERY thin and bake at 350º for 8-10 minutes.
